At 95 years, the San Francisco Armory is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Oddly enough it was vacant for over half that time because no one was quite sure what to do with it. A castle that was derelict for 50 years at the entrance to San Francisco’s Mission district that is finally sold (or partially sold) to a local bondage sex company. That’s a reality show that just writes itself and the tour is like walking though a living time capsule.
There’s an actual river that runs through the basement.
And check out that basement.
It’s the stuff that nightmares and Mutant Massacres are made out of.
And this is the drill court that’s been generating some controversy lately.
It’s HUGE and apparently this is also where they filmed the Hoth scenes from The Empire Strikes Back.
I guess if you stick around long enough in this city you’re bound to build up a colorful history. It will be really interesting to see what the Armory is doing another 95 years from now.
