That West Fest Woodstock day in Golden Gate Park was kind of a mess.

Here are some tips to help the promoters move forward when they plan their next, inevitable, Woodstock reunion party.

1) Make sure you have your DJ Tent, that you advertised online as being part of the line-up, set up under the boundaries of your park permit. That way they can actually play more than a few records before being shut down.

2) Invite the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition to help with bicycle parking. I’ve been to several of these festivals over the years; some with 80,000+ people, and this was the first one where there was almost no regard what-so-ever for the thousands of people that rode their bike there. West Fest goons were threatening some people that locked their bikes to fences and steel barricades that their bikes would be towed and prevented others from trying to park there. I saw thousands of dollars worth of bikes locked to shrubbery and small trees. Get it together people …

this was ridiculous that it was shut down. the police said it was because there was too much mud there. such a lame reason. ugh. what about woodstock?? (which it was commemorating).

Yeah, Garth was all of one record into his set and the party was just starting to take shape when like 20 cops descended on the scene and shut it down. Lame. The explanation that they gave to me was that the West Fest permit did not cover that part of the park (Marc’s Meadows) even though if you check the West Fest website it clearly lists the DJ Tent as being in Marc’s Meadows. Fucking hippies.

I gotta say that SFPD was super cool in my interactions with them. Even though I was obviously wasted by that point in the day they didn’t mind me taking pictures and were even laughing and teasing each other (“Hey, you should take a picture of Hollywood over here. Smile for the camera, Jet-Li”)

But check it out. Just the other day I found a video of Carlos spinning in Golden Gate Park 1992 in what I’m almost positive is Marc’s Meadows

Ha! Fucking 1992 …
